I just released a breath pacer app that helps people relieve anxiety with deep breathing exercises!
The app is called Pocket Breath Coach. It uses relaxing sounds and animations to guide your breathing, making it easy to breathe slowly and deeply.
I created the app because back in 2018 I was dealing with really severe anxiety.
I tried lots of things, but what really made the difference for me was doing slow, deep breathing exercises every morning and evening for 10-20 minutes.
The breathing exercises helped me feel a lot of relief from the anxiety symptoms like tension and rapid heart rate, and over time the anxiety became less and less severe, until I finally started to feel “normal” again.
Breathing exercises that worked best were ones where I maintained a steady pattern of inhales and exhales, such as of 6 seconds in, 6 seconds out, or 4 seconds in, 8 seconds out.
What does this breathing exercise app do?
Pocket Breath Coach helps people relieve anxiety with deep breathing exercises.
Let Calming Sounds and Animations Guide Your Breathing
The breathing exercise app uses calming sounds and animations to guide your breathing.
The relaxing sounds allow you close your eyes while maintaining the slow, rhythmic breathing exercises.
And the sound continues playing in the background while using other apps, and with the phone locked.
Free users get access to a few sounds to choose from.
But if you want to try more sounds, the app has a premium subscription with a larger collection of calming sounds.
One of my favorite combinations of the premium sounds is called Strings and Rain. Watch the video at the top of the page to see and hear an exmaple.
Customizable Breathing Exercises
It comes pre-loaded with lots of breathing patterns such as “Box Breathing” and “4-7-8 Breathing“, each proven to relieve anxiety
And you can also customize the exercises to your liking.
For example, if you find that a certain pattern is too slow or too fast, you can adjust it to suit your needs.
Want to make the exhale a little longer? you can do that. Want to add a short pause between the inhale and exhale? You can do that too.
You can control the timing of each part of the breathing exercise down to the .1 second, and the animation and sound sync up perfectly.
Set a Sleep Timer
It has a sleep timer so you can drift off to sleep, and the sound will gradually fade out when the timer is up.
You can also customize the sounds and animations to ones that help you feel the most relaxed.
I’ve got 3 animations to choose from, ball and line, octagon, and circle.
The breathing app is free to download and use.
Schedule Notification Reminders So You Never Miss a Breathing Session
Premium members also get to use personalized notification reminders.
You can schedule reminders at your preferred times to do you favorite breathing patterns and sounds. And when you tap the notification, it takes you straight to the guided breathing screen with your settings already loaded.
It only costs 99 cents per month to become a premium member, or you can choose the annual subscription for 6.99 per year.
